How To Invitations

Summer time usually means lots of birthdays, bar-b-que’s and family gatherings, so I thought an invitation ’how-to’ was in order!

You will need: 

6″x12″ pc. of patterned paper

3.5″x4″ light coloured cardstock

20″ length of ribbon

1.5″ hole punch, adhesive

trimmer and bone folder

Step 1:

Fold your patterned paper in half, open and fold in sides to meet in the middle.

Step 2:

Find centre on each side and punch hole with 1.5″ punch. *note-only insert punch half way* 

 

Step 3:

Weave ribbon through holes.  Glue down your cardstock to inside centre of the invitation.

Step 4:

Write or stamp your party information on your cardstock, and then you can embellish the front however you desire!  To close, fold in sides to centre, fold in half again, and tie ribbon.

My name is Aleksandra Sokal, and I live in Winnipeg Manitoba.  I have 4 kids.
Nicholas (8), Martin (7), Kara (5) and Alexander (4 mos).  I’ve been “officially” been
scrapbooing since 2003 when my daughter was born…but I did have supplies a couple years
before then.  Remember the purple templates from Walmart? Yes, I was the proud owner!

I started 12×12 and for me, it was just too much space I was trying to fill, so I
have switched to 8 1/2 x 11 and was hooked and am much happier with my layouts! I have
previously been on a Design Team for another forum.  I also
enjoy sewing, cross stitch and pretty much any craft I pick up…I’ll be hooked.  So
I try not to explore too much.

SNS Boys N Dirt Kit & Tin Box Creations Spring Flower Set.

Oh what fun I had this month! SNS had a wonderful sponsor, Tin Box Creations, and I was honored to play with TBC‘s Spring Flower Set as well as SNS‘s April Boys n Dirt Kit.

First up I altered this faux leather box. I used Tin Box Creations‘ dotted flower border stamp from the Spring Flower Set, to stamp on the Olive – White Stitch Ribbon. I also used Mini Olive Ric Rac from the SNS Boys N Dirt Kit too. Other supplies Used: Stash Beads (to spell “Grow Beauty”), Stash flowers, Fancy Pants Rub Ons and Paper Frills.

On my Altered Tile Project. I stamped the Flower Garden stamp with Staz On ink directly on my once plain tile:) I then stamped the tile with the dotted flower border using Red Staz On Ink then outlining it with Red Stickles. Stash Sticker, Stash Blue Hearts and some awesome Mini Olive Ric Rac, and I was done!. Such a fast and easy project!

On my next project I created my Patterned Paper by using watercolor paints for the background. I then stamped it with TBC’s dotted flower & leaves stamps from the Spring Flower Set. I also “flocked” the dotted flower & Leaves stamps using a flocking kit I purchased from the SNS Store. The particular one I used is sold out, but HERE is a similar one, just different colors:) Once dry I used Frosted Lace Stickles in the center of the flower. The glossy Flower by the “nature” tag was the dotted flower stamped on the backside of cardstock, embossed with a stylus, then sanded and inked and then used diamond glaze on it. I also used Baby Blue Stickles on the Huge Tan Ric Rac from the SNS Boys N Dirt Kit. This LO amazes me that I started out with just a white sheet of cardstock!

Next up is an altered Kleenex holder. I used Mini Olive Ric Rac & Oatmeal Grosgrain from the kit. I also used Basic Grey Boxer Patterned paper – Cargo & Basic Grey Boxer stickers from the store. More Details can be found HERE.

I altered an address book too. I used White Twill Tape from the SNS April Boys N Dirt kit. Other products used: Bohemia Barefoot & Dots/Red, Basic Grey Archaic/Rusty & Scenic Route Chipboard.

My next LO is 6 x 12 in size. I used Mini Olive Ric Rac & Oatmeal Grosgrain from the SNS Boys N Dirt kit. I also used Basic Grey Arcaic PP (Timeworn, Rusty, Dirty, Primal), stash stickers and a white pen.

My Last LO is 12 x 12 in size. I used White Twill Tape from the SNS April Boys N Dirt kit, as well as Cloud 9 Design PP (Man’s Best Friend), Fancy Pants PP, a Love Elsie Star, and red Cardstock.

More Flora Bella Projects

Believe it or not, 3 layouts, 2 altered items, and numerous cards later, I still have some ribbon left over from this kit! Here are a couple little projects.

I made this little paper basket to hold a little Mother’s Day gift.  All ribbons are from the Flora Bella kit, except for the mauve grosgrain from the store. 

I’ve been really trying to use up more scraps lately by making cards.  Works great not only for paper scraps, but for ribbon scraps as well!

April Projects – Ribbon and Stamps!

I had so much fun designing this month. Not only did I have an amazing ZZ ribbon Kit – “Take Five” , but I also had the opportunity to create using an awesome stamp kit from Tin Box Creations! 

First of all, I will share the projects created with both the stamp kit – “Geo Style” and the ZZ ribbon Kit – “Take Five”

This LO I created for my  my challenge in the SnS Crop last week. I used one of the stamps to create an effect on the big number 4!

 

This next LO was also created for another of my challenges at the SnS Crop. I used of the the stamps to create the circles at the top of the page!

This third LO was created for my “Down to the Wire” class in the crop! Check out the link to find out how I made the wire and beaded flower! I used the stamp to created an effect behind the title word.

With the ribbon kit, I created this LO for Shannon’s April “Got Foam” challenge ! See how I created the title using those foam letters that rarely get used now?

Another LO created using the ZZ ribbon Kit – “Take Five” is this one. I made this one for my  April “Keep it simple” Challenge! 

Finally, this project I created for Christine’s Lucky Star challenge at the SnS Crop!

April ZZ Bella Flora kit

This kit has some nice earthy colours, just what I like, you can get it here.

This LO is using Cloud 9 papers, Ribbons from the kit, Liquid Pearls, and MM Foam stamps.

This LO using MAMBI rhinestones, CTMH papers, Coredinations Cardstock, ribbons from this kit, White Signo pen and some crocheted flowers.

2 pages for a CJ, using CTMH papers, ink and ribbon from this kit.

Tin Box creations stamps were a lot of fun to work with! I got to play with TAB IT set.

Did some little altering! These holders are using MM paint, Crate Paper, TAB IT stamps, Thickers, Heidi Swapp Flowers and ribbons from this kit.

Again using TAB IT set, Fancy Pants papers, overlay, Gel-a-Tins gems, Thickers

Using: TAB IT set, Bazzill flower, Zach’s life papers, My Mind’s Eye rub on, ribbons from this kit.

SnS April Showers Kit

This month I had such a great time working with the SNS April Showers kit!

I love that although the ribbons are all blue and white, they can be used for a variety of vastly different coloured projects!!

For this layout I used the white cotton lace from the kit. It was also a challenge from our Olympics Online crop last week. I used little gems on the waves to give a bit of shine to the water.  

For this layout I used the white venice lace from the kit….another challenge from the online crop! I just love the white lace!! I also used the Bo Bunny Teen Chic papers from the store.

I altered this Kaiser Craft floral hanging keepsake with Upsy Daisy Designs Tweet paper line from the store, periwinkle satin edge organza and columbia blue white stitch from the kit. What a fun project to do!

This month we were also lucky enough to be sponsored by Tin Box Creations and got to use their cool clear photopolymer stamps!! Thanks so much Tin Box!! I got to work with the fun and creative Styl’n Around stamp set. These are my projects using the stamps and SNS ribbon together! What an awesome combination!!

For this layout I used the stamps to make the snowflakes for the background. I also used the white venice lace, one of my favourites!

For this layout I used the stamps to make a decorative border around the page. The ribbon I used is white venice lace (again), huge dusty blue ric rac and white blue venice lace daisy.

I used 5 different Styl’n Around stamps to make these cards. It’s fun to see the many different uses for these stamps…flowers, snowflakes, funky designs, borders…they are so versatile! Ribbons I used are: white venice lace, white cotton lace, huge dusty blue ric rac, columbia blue white stitch, periwinkle satin edge organza and white blue venice lace daisy.

More April Showers and Tin Box

Here are a few more goodies I made!  This first one is a set of tea bag covers.  I used the wonderfully versatile Empty Alpha Lower stamp set from Tin Box Creations, along with the SnS April Showers Ribbon Kit.

And this little number was made for one of Linda’s challenge at our recent crop, also using the SnS April Showers Ribbon Kit.
