This Kit just rocks!I loved the pinks and blacks, the dots and velvet. They were so versatile to work with and went with just about anything.

This month, to make things extra special, our Design Team was sponsored by the generous Magitical Memories Chipboard
Thanks Magistical Memories. The chipboard goodies were such a treat, and a pleasure to use.

Now onto a few creations. If you’d like to look at close-ups, details, or see what the rest of the team did this month, please go Here

For my first layout I used 2 sizes of “Desire Flower” chipboard. I covered them in papers which matched the layout, layered one atop the other, used my Crop-a-Dile to punch through them and threaded the yummy dotted organza through it.

Here I painted the largest Star Leaf chipboard shape with a bright Kiwi paint, and then added a light pink shimmer once dry.
I also used the very versatile Ruler Jacuard trim from the ribbon kit.

In this layout, I left the Pinted Maggie chipboard bare to match the natural feel I was hoping to attain with the layout. The rub-on I used on the chipboard went on smoothly and easily.

August Fresh Flowers Kit

I loved getting the chance to work with this kit and also the chance to work with some fun Magisitical Memories chipboard! What a great month. (lol-the fact that I’m writing this post from the deck of our beach rental doesn’t hurt either! :-))

Sandy Fingers

For this project I used ricrac and ribbon from the Fresh Flowers kit, as well as a little bit of vintage lace.  The chipboard is Magistical Memories Pointed Maggie Flower  I love this picture, and it just felt like it needed a minimalist layout to go with it.  The chipboard flowers are just doodled on and I added a button to the center of each.

Fashion Sense

I used lots of ribbons from the Fresh Flowers kit as well as Magisitcal Memories Potty People chipboard.  I cut one of the larger Potty People couples apart and added a little grosgrain from the kit and a tiny Heidi Swapp crown to the girl.

Here I used a Magistical Memories Window Tab inked, covered with paper glaze for an epoxy effect, and then threaded teal lace through the holes.  Other ribbon is from the Fresh Flowers kit.  The tab pulls out to reveal hidden journaling in a pocket behind the photo.

Just Chillin’ Card

For this simple card I used one of the Magistical Memories Potty People on 3D foam adhesive so that he could “hold” the surfboard that I cut from Scenic Route Grafton paper.  Ribbon is from the Fresh Flowers kit.

Christmas List Notebook

Okay, can you tell I love the Magistical Memories Potty People???  LOL.  They’re my favorites!  Here they’re dressed up with Santa hats made from felt and cotton.  Used lots of ribbon from the Fresh Flowers kit as well as lots of other ribbon from my stash to alter this notebook.

Seahorse Puzzle Frame

I altered a children’s wooden puzzle and turned it into a frame for a beach photo.  The Magistical Memories Seahorse is covered in paper glaze and then sprinkled with a couple shades of mini glass marbles, for a fun sparkly finish.  Stitched ribbon from the SnS store makes the hanger.

Everyday Moment

I covered a Desire Flower from Magistical Memories with paper and a rub-on and used it for a title block on this simple layout.  Organza from the Fresh Flowers kit is stapled on for borders on the top and bottom.

This month I had the fun of working with ZZ August Picture Post card ribbon kit. I don’t usually work with lace, but I wanted a challenge and this lace is so nice it made it easy. Chipboard and Lace

When the time came to pick our kits for this month, I knew ZZ-Picture Post Card was the kit for me.  These beautiful strands of lace had my name written all over them.  To make the deal even sweeter, I had the opportunity to couple this kit with chipboard from Magistical Memories

So far, I’ve created 3 cards and 5layouts using this wonderful kit, with more to come!  One of my favorite techniques was to use the lace as borders on my projects, perfect for adding that extra oomph!   The thicker pieces worked well for layering with embellies and thickers!  There are so many different options- the possibilities are endless!

THIS is the incredible kit I chose to work with this month!  Lace is not something I have incorporated into my designs a whole lot in the past, so I was really looking forward to playing around and seeing what I could come up with.  AND, if having an incredible lace kit to design with wasn’t enough, we had the most amazing sponsor product to work with this month as well!  MAJISTICAL MEMORIES was so kind (and generous) to provide all the DT with some of their yummy chipboard this month.  Thank-you ever so much Magistical Memories!! xoxo

Take a peek at some of my designs, and you can check out more in the gallery.

This is a lot easier to make than it looks! And you can adapt this to whatever supplies you have on hand! Have fun with it!

Gather Your Supplies:

Here I’m using an old bulletin Board – frame removed, fabric to size, furniture nails, 10 yards of ribbon, scissors, stapler, low loft batting, and pins (not shown)

First Things First:

Cut your Batting to Size:

Staple to Bulletin Board

Trim off Excess Batting:

Front Of Bulletin Board:

Back of Bulletin Board:

Now take your fabric and trim to size – leave a generous outline (you can cut off the excess later)

Now go ahead and Staple that material to your Bulletin Board!

Don’t forget to trimm off your excess when you are done.

Now here comes the fun part! Place your ribbon how you would like it! I chose to criss cross the ribbon, as well as use and over/under pattern. Here is where I discovered that straight pins do come in handy!

Once I had the ribbon pinned down the way I liked it – I stapled it securely to the back! Poor Stapler – getting quite a workout here!

Now once that was done, I took my furniture nails and placed them wherever the ribbon made “x”‘s

and then I pushed them in. All Done!!

There are so many variations you could try – Explore them! For example – You could use cardboard instead of a bulletin board, brads instead of furniture nails, and who says you have to use fabric? What about using some of that stash pretty patterened paper we all have? Go Have Fun with it!!
