I was so excited to get the chance to choose the ribbons and trims in this kit!   (With some help from Rhea, of course.)  My favorite paper line is October Afternoon’s Detour collection, and this kit coordinates perfectly.  Click on the photo above to purchase!

I recently saw a little album online with covers made from cardboard, so I decided to play around with the idea for my St. Augustine vacation photos.  I used cardboard not only for the cover, but for all the pages in this 6×6 book.  But I still didn’t have space for my photos, so I decided to get creative.

Each photo opens out into either an accordian “mini-book” or a little flip book with tabs made from the ribbons and trims in the kit.  Gaffer tape from 7Gypsies made great “hinges” on the photos, to allow them to be flipped and I added lots of journaling  blocks and labels to catch memories.

The Train – Page 1

I used gaffer tape to make hinges for these pages and added journaling to the back of each photo.  You can see how I layered the black organza loop trim from the kit with the olive dot grosgrain.  A strip of TTT holds them together and they are stapled on as page tabs, and photo tabs.

Castillo – Page 2

I had so many pictures from this locale, that I needed to add an accordian book.  I folded and glued papers together until I ended up with enough space.

The saffire organza tab, pulls out to reveal lots more photos and journaling.  Then turn it over, and there are more photos on the other side!

I made a pocket behind the last photo to hold tour information and a map.  The stapled grosgrain on the side of the page helps hold it in place.

Lighthouse and Mini-Golf – Pages 3 and 4

The lighthouse page opens up, to show zoomed in photos of DH at the top.  The mini golf page incorporated not only a ticket stub, but also used the score card and background on the page.

Picnic – Page 5

Another accordian book with gaffer tape used as a pull tab.

Fern journaling card is actually a wedding placecard cut in half.  And you can turn the accordian book over for more photos on the other side.

San Sebastian Winery – Page 6

This photos flip out with pull tabs to reveal journaling and a little ribbon pocket to hold ephemera from the winery.

O’Steen’s and The Alligator Farm – Pages 7 and 8

Another double-sided accordian book for the Alligator Farm with a ribbon strip holding tickets and info.

All in all a great vacation!
